Impacts of self-made Tonglin Huayu Paishi decoction combined with flexible ureteroscopy on the stone excretion, incidence of renal colic, and serum KIM-1 level in patients with lower calyceal calculus
Abstract:Objective To explore the impacts of self-made Tonglin Huayu Paishi decoction combined with flexible ureteroscopy on the stone excretion, incidence of renal colic, and serum level of kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) in patients with lower calyceal calculus. Methods A total of 160 patients with subcalyceal calculus admitted to our hospital from January 2020 to September 2021 were selected as the study objects, and the patients were divided into control group and study group according to random number table method, with 80 cases in each group. The control group was given flexible ureteroscopic lithotripsy combined with body position lithotripsy, and the study group was given flexible ureteroscopic lithotripsy combined with Tonglin Huayu Paishi decoction and body position lithotripsy. The stone excretion status, incidence of renal colic, and serum KIM-1 level of the two groups were compared. Results The stone removal rate of the study group was higher than that of the control group at different time points, and the difference was statistically significant (all P<0.05). The maximum stone diameter of the study group was lower than that of the control group at 30 days after surgery[(0.33±0.10)cm vs. (0.45±0.14)cm], and the difference was statistically significant (t=6.239, P<0.05). The disappearance time of hemuria in the study group was earlier than that in the control group [(7.15±2.44) days vs. (9.34±2.93) days], and the frequency of renal colic was less than that in the control group [(1.61±0.49) times/d vs. (2.29±0.76) times/d], with statistical significance (all P<0.001). At 10 and 30 days after surgery, serum neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin(NGAL)and KIM-1 levels in the study group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05). The complication rate of the study group was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusions The use of self-made Tonglin Huayu Paishi decoction combined with flexible ureteroscopic treatment for patients with lower calyceal calculus can improve the stone clearance rate, reduce the incidence of renal colic, and reduce kidney injury.
