Objective The clinical research registration of prostate cancer at home and abroad was analyzed in order to provide reference for domestic prostate cancer research. Methods By searching the prostate cancer clinical studies registered in ClinicalTrials.gov in the United States since the database was built, the characteristics of the prostate cancer clinical studies registered in China were analyzed in terms of regional distribution, sample size, trial progress, study type, trial design, blind method use, clinical staging, number of participating institutions, lead units, etc. Results There were a total of 374 001 clinical studies registered in the world, of which 5 046 were prostate cancer studies, and 274 were prostate cancer clinical studies in China, which had a large gap with European and American countries. The sample size of prostate cancer clinical trials in China was 100-999 cases. The main types of trials were intervention studies (222 cases, 81.02%), followed by observation studies (47 cases, 17.15%). The research mode of intervention study was mainly randomized parallel control, and the experimental mode of observational study is mainly cohort study. The main purpose of the study was "treatment" (70.65%). The main treatment was drug intervention (58.7%). The proportion of phase Ⅲ clinical trials (33.7%) was the highest. In terms of the main outcome indicators, overall survival and safety were the main outcome observation indicators in China. Conclusions The research status and development trend of prostate cancer clinical trials in our country are compared with the registered clinical studies of prostate cancer in the world, and the diversification of research modes should be strengthened. In addition, the number of earlier, original clinical trials needs to be further increased.
