Objective To observe the clinical effect of transurethral resection of the prostate combined with hormonal therapy for advanced prostate cancer. Methods  A total of 70 patients who met the pathological cycle were randomly divided into the two groups, 35 patients in the control group underwent the traditional endocrine therapy, and 35 patients in the study group underwent combination therapy. International prostate symptom score (IPSS) before and after treatment, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, residual volume and maximum flow rate and the rate of recurrent, the transfer rate and mortality were compared. Results  There was no significant difference in these parameters before treatment(P>0.05). There were significant differences in maximum urinary flow rate and other parameters after treatment between the two groups (P<0.01). There was no significant difference in 3-years metastases rate , death rate and other parameters between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusions  Transurethral resection of the prostate combined with hormonal therapy can effectively eliminate urinary tract obstruction, and control the further growth of cancer cells, the treatment is not only safe, but also very reliable.
