Objective  To investigate the therapeutic efficacy of Zeguilongshuang combined with Clarithromycin for Type IIIA prostatitis．Methord  one hundred and ten patients with Type IIIA prostatitis were randomly divided into a Zeguilongshuang group，which was given Zeguilongshuang combined with Clarithromycin during the first 4 weeks，followed by Zeguilongshuang alone for 8 weeks，and a Qianliekang group was given Qianliekang combined with Clarithromycin during the first 4 weeks，followed by Zeguilongshuang alone for 8 weeks. NIH-CPSI scores and leukocyte counts in the expressed prostatic secretions of all the patients were analyzed before and after the treatment．Results  After 4-week，8-week and 12-week，NIH-CPSI scores and leukocyte counts and the score of pain，voiding symptoms and the quality of life in the expressed prostatic secretions of both the groups were significantly decreased compared with pretreatment(P<0．05 orP< 0．01)． Compared with the 4-week treatment，total score of NIH-CPSI，and the quality of life , the score of pain and voiding symptoms were revealed to be significantly differentsin the Zeguilongshuang group from the 8-week and 12-week treatment，except the leukocyte count in EPS(P<0．05)．However，there was no significant difference between the 8-week and 12-week treatment in any of the indexes(P>0．05)．While there was no significant difference between the 4-week，8-week and 12-week treatment in any of the indexesin the Qianliekang group(P>0．05). Conclusions  Zeguilongshuang combined with Clarithromycin is effective for Type IIIA prostatitis，by relieving pain，decreasing the leukocyte count in EPS，voiding symptoms and improving the life quality of the patients．
