Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of transurethral bipolar plasmaKinetic resection of prostate(TUPKP) in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) patients with different volume of prostate. Methods From February 2015 to February 2016, 200 patients with BPH who were underwent TUPKP in our hospital were retrospectively reviewed. All patients were divided into two groups, group A (volume 60-80 ml) and group B (volume 80-120ml), according to different prostate volume. The clinical efficacy were compared. Results The mean operative time was significantly shorter in group A, as well as the volume of removal prostate tissues, with statistically significance (P <0.05) compared with group B. The international prostate symptom score (IPSS), IPSS1 and IPSS2 were greatly improved in both group. However ,the differences between the groups were not statistically significance (P> 0.05).The postoperative complication rate was 15.00% and 15.22% in group A and group B, respectively, with no significant difference (P > 0.05). There were no statistically significance of the mean blood loss, indwelling catheterization time and hospital stay between the two groups (P> 0.05). Conclusion It is safe and effective of TUPKP in the treatment of patients with both large or small volume prostate.
